SimAnt explores the detail of the lives of ants, as you take full control of an ant colony. Build up your colony to conquer the other colonies in the yard. Foes include spiders and humans - make their lives a misery by invading their homes. A Quick Game option focuses on battles with other groups of ants, and a full Tutorial mode is provided. Biological detail of real ants is provided, to help make the package more educational.
Yet another year rolls by and SimAnt is born. This game was severely different from the last 2. Instead of focussing on the entire world on even city. This game put you in control of 1 ant. Your objective was, as a black ant, fight off the red ants and overall take control of the entire area, this made it the first Sim title to be objective based. However this was one way of playing. An experimental mode was also added which put you control of the entire 2 colonies (red and black) letting you experiment with pheromone trails, maze walls, rocks, ants, and food. There are also other creatures incorporated into the game included such as spiders, antlions, caterpillars, pillbugs, birds, roaches, flies, and even humans. Which you must fend off to take control of the garden and house. The most interesting thing about this game is, although SimAnt was never popular, Will Wright commented on how this game gave him the idea of The Sims, which we now all know and love!
Released in 1991 the game was availavle on the following platforms, Amiga, DOS, SNES, Windows 3.x, Mac OS, NEC PC-9801.
