SimGolf is an interpretation of computerized golf, with a few new ideas added. This follows pioneering ideas in the Sim-series such as Building a city, using a helicopter to keep them running smoothly and guiding an entire planet from birth to death.
The MouseSwing control mode sees your player deliver his shot, complete with back-swing and follow-through, based on your precise mouse movements, with the aim of reflecting golf mechanics more authentically. A more conventional three-click mode is also offered.
SimGolf was the first of the sims series that put you in control of one person directly. This time the aim is to get through golf courses, but not only this, the game also included a course designer that let the player create their own courses for the game and include hills, bunkers, tress, and water or the less realistic lava lakes and others. SimGolf was critised for the maybe to advanced way of creating your courses, it could sometimes take hours to finish one which is why many people were put off the game. Like the others we can see how the graphics and technology incorporated in the game have slowly improved, although 4 years before the release of the Sims we can see the resemblance in terrains and textures.
Released in 1996 the game was availavle on Microsoft Windows
