The first section of the tutorial is straight into SC4 to create the terrain. It is recommended that if you haven't played SC4 before (and maybe just bought it for this reason!) You do the tutorials, but if you're a familiar user carry on reading!
1.) Create a new region, for the purpose of this tutorial, i have named mine thesims2 however it can be called anything.
2.) Select one of the smallest sections in your new region (see hightlighted section in screenshot)
3.) Get building! But be aware of these few things:
- Be careful what you place! only this list can be imported into The Sims 2!
Original SimCity 4 road bridges,
SimCity 4 Deluxe small steel arch bridges,
Straight, manually laid roads/street,
Right-angle bends,
Cul-de-sacs,
T-intersections and
4-way intersections
- Restrict the Area!The Sims 2 Camera locks it self into the centre of the map. When building roads, stick to the middle! Build Interesting terrain round the edges!
- Be interesting! Height of terrain and density of forests make your neighbourhood look more appealing!
- Want a Different Terrain? Don't bother placing desert or dirt terrain down at the moment. The Sims 2 can automatically do this.

1.) Close SC4, Open "My Documents" and find the folder named "SimCity 4"
2.) Locate your region. In my case the folder I'll be looking for is /mydocuments/simcity4/regions /thesims2
3.) Now look for your town that you created your terriain on. Mine is named "City - thesims2_terrain.sc4".
4.) Copy this file and close your SC4 folder
5.) Find Your Sims 2 folder. It should be found here. /mydocuments/EAGames/TheSims2
6.) Open the folder name "SC4 Terrains". This folder should contain any other neighbourhood terrains in your game.
7.) Paste your terrain file into this folder.
8.) Start The Sims 2, create a custom neighbourhood, find your terrain name and your away!

It's easy to make mistakes on SC4 when creating a terrain and alot of the time you're going to find that roads aren't straight and unsuitable for building on. Well those with the Freetime EP should not worry, you can correct these problems in game!
1.) Open your neighbourhood with the custom terrain
2.) Open the cheat box (CTRL+SHIFT+C) and enter the following code: modifyNeighborhoodTerrain on
3.) This is simple, click and drag over the selected area (as you would in a lot) and green squares should appear. Now click the following buttons to change the terrain
[ = Raise Terrain
] = Lower Terrain
/ = Level Terrain
p = smooth terrain,
Okay, so the name of your terrian not that inspiring? Change it then!
1.) Find your SC4 Terrains folder in EAGames/TheSims2
2.) Locate your current terrain
3.) Re Name it!, it can have spaces but make sure you keep .SC4 at the end of the files name!
